In the 1950s some farmers in the US wanted to know who had the most powerful tractor. They started by towing a 'fixed weight', but after a while they devised a way in which more people would stand on the towed ballast every five metres. In time, this became too dangerous and after years of development of the sledge and the weights, the basis for today's weight-transfer system was created.
In 1977 tractor pulling was held for the first time in the Netherlands. In recent decades the sport has developed and grown in many ways. The fairly standard tractors that appeared on the course in 1977 have made way for machines that can compete with those in America.
Tractors are getting stronger and more powerful by the day and require strong performance parts. Wilmink can supply various products for this branch of sport. The range consists of many parts such as a large number of gaskets, bearings and connecting rods. A diverse collection of small equipment such as hose couplings is also available from stock.
Brands such as Cometic Gasket, Clevite, ACL and King Engine Bearings are popular in this application. Wilmink Performance also offers a service for custom-made parts such as pistons from CP-Carrillo.
